The 14th International Congress on Marine Corrosion and Fouling
Marine Paint visible and active in Kobe, Japan.

Programme director Björn Dahlbäck during his oral presentation
The International Congress on Marine Corrosion and Fouling is a biannually held meeting which gathers key actors in the field of marine biofouling. This year Japan hosted the meeting and around 300 delegates attended. The research programme Marine Paint was represented by 10 researchers who gave five different oral presentations and five poster presentations. Marine Paint received a lot of attention and the international network was further developed. The oral presentations given were: Björn Dahlbäck Marine paint: from multidisciplinary research to environmentally sound antifouling paints Cecilia Petersson Effects of medetomidine on microalgal and bacterial marine communities Annelie Hilvarsson Toxicity and bioaccumulation of medetomidine in marine fauna Lena Lindblad Receptor characterization governing cement release from theBalanus improvisus cyprid larvae. Hans Blanck New strategy for design of optimised combinations of antifoulants: mixture efficacy predictions, risk weighting and microcapsule technology Poster presentations given were (and below you can find them as pdf — files): 1. Lena Lindblad Increasing settling activity; the role of different detergents. 2. Åsa Arrhenius Marine paint optimisation: settling assays with marine periphyton communities and sea lettuce (Ulva lactuca) 3. Annelie Hilvarsson Marine paint optimisation: settling assays with sea squirt (Ciona intestinalis) and barnacles 4. Linda Hasselberg Frank The mRNA expression of the octopamine receptor in Balanus improvisus 5. Ulrika Lind Cloning and expression of octopamine receptors from Balanus improvisus
